January on Film | Zafira
Hey!
January has lasted a good 3 years or that’s honestly what it’s felt like. It’s been a quiet month. I think like a lot of people, I’ve been trying to get my life back on track a little bit after almost a month off uni. I’m happy to be back into my usual schedule though and also happy to see what this year has to offer!
Here’s my January on film:
For the past few weeks, I’ve been adoring this little spot in my parents room. It’s on top of my mum’s dresser, a spot where she keeps a vintage jewellery box, her perfume, a mirror and a spinny bangle holder (not pictured). I think it might be the way it looks when the sun starts to set or the way an immense amount of light shines through no matter what the weather. It’s just very pretty.
Pictured here is an & Other Stories Perfume I got my mum for her birthday which I occasionally steal a spritz or two of and my favourite favourite & Other Stories lipstick that has most definitely been loved.
We spent Christmas and Boxing Day in London this year compared to our usual family shindig in Birmingham so we could visit some family. I took this somewhere in Whitechapel on Boxing Day. Honestly I think it’s kinda disgusting. There’s nothing I hate more than pigeons.
Here I am dressed like I’m cosplaying Shrek in this funky green silky dress from none other than Zara. I love this dress however, I hate wearing it because it creases instantly. I am also wearing some vibrant green eye shadow that you can barely see. I have my massive vintage coat from Headlock Vintage on too which everyone seems to hate but I am completely smitten with it. My personal tutor at university actually asked if I picked this coat of a skip which was very nice of him.
I was going to do this whole “only buy two things a month” thing but it’s now the end of January and once again, my wardrobe doors are incapable of closing without an aggressive shove.
These dreamy babies were a little bit of an impulsive buy from ASOS but my god are they beautiful. I love Mary Janes. They’re probably my all-time favourite style of shoe. These are plain black and velvet and pretty much match everything in my wardrobe.
As I said, this whole “only buy two things a month” thing did not go well whatsoever.
I’ve been quite in love with various shades of green for a while now which is strange because I used to hate the colour green. I think it’s incredibly flattering on brown-ier skin tones.
This blazer style corduroy jacket is from TK Maxx but is from a brand called Y.A.S that I know nothing about other than they are expensive are sold on ASOS. This jacket was originally £80 however because TK Maxx is a literal heaven on earth, this jacket only cost me £14.99. Bargain of the year.
Considering I’ve lived in Manchester my entire life, I don’t think I’ve ever been to the Whitworth Gallery.
It’s an incredibly pretty building, not only from the outside but the inside too. It’s so open and bright and I think this might be my new favourite place in Manchester. They’ve also got the most aesthetically pleasing cafe that’s lined with tall window after tall window (there’s a little snippet of it on the smaller pic).
I don’t even know where to begin with these cheeky babies. They both came over a few days ago and were causing chaos left, right and centre. They gave each other makeovers with some pretty pink lipstick, made me draw everyone and everything ever possible, ate of course (their fave activity) and both took turns drinking from my water bottle/cup in this picture.
Thanks for reading!
It’s been wild watching these two grow up the past 2 years.
Lots of love,
Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette Review, Swatches + Looks! | Zafira
Hi!
For my birthday, I was kindly gifted the Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette from my cousin and since then, I've pretty much been using it everyday which is why I thought I that I would share it on here! I've never been an eyeshadow kind of girl, I usually just put a bit of bronzer or my contour shade on my eyelid and blend it out but once I started playing around with this palette, I fell in love instantly.
From what I've learnt in the makeup world (which honestly is not a lot) is that Zoeva is mostly really popular due to their brushes which I haven't tried but from the using this palette and seeing how good quality it is, maybe I will have to give them a go.
The packaging is super cute, but the one thing that stood out the most was how thin and lightweight it was. It's not bulky whatsoever which makes it perfect for travelling and on the go. There's no mirror which is kind of annoying but the eyeshadows definitely make up for that.
The product contains 10 shades which are:
Bitter Start - Palest matte nude.
Sweeter End - Shimmering duo chrome nougat.
Warm Notes - Glittering cranberry purple.
Subtle Blend - Metallic deep bronze.
Beans Are White - Deep cocoa brown matte.
Pure Ganache - Pure and luxurious metallic gold.
Substitute For Love - Toffee brown with subtle shimmer.
Freshly Toasted - Rich mahogany brown.
Infusion - Matte dark brown infused with golden glitter.
Delicate Acidity - Berry toned brown shimmer.
I think these are all quite versatile colours and can be used either day or night and for any occasion. My personal faves are Freshly Toasted and Infusion. All these colours are pretty warm toned and would look amazing on any skin colour. On the website the palette is described to be inspired by '
warm truffle colours, delicate nougat shades and shimmery marizinpan tones for a seductive glamour look
' which is very evident in the range of shades,
The colours are pretty pigmented especially for the price but nothing crazy which makes them really effortless to blend. They aren't chalky at all and swatch and apply very very very smoothly. They have no fall out whatsoever which is amazing and is the perfect affordable high quality palette!
Just look at how beautiful that pink looks! As you can tell, I've been trying out this palette and I'm pretty much in love with it.
'Pure Ganache' is another one of my favourite colours, it's such a pigmented and lovely gold shade.
The two shades I use the most are definitely 'Subsitute for Love' and 'Freshly toasted with the tiniest bit of 'Pure Ganache' in the inner corners but most of the time I usually use a bit of my Mary Lou Manizer in the inner corners also for a less intense look. A warm orangey/brown eye has been in since Autumn and I still see so many people with this look and the Zoeva Cocoa Blend palette is a great way to achieve it! I've pretty much been wearing this look everyday since my birthday. It's the perfect everyday eye.
Another look I've been adoring and wearing especially when there's a special occasion or event is using 'Freshly Toasted' in the crease and 'Pure Ganache' all over the lid as well as the tiniest bit of 'Subtle Blend' on the outer corner of the eye just to darken the gold shade. Throw on a bit of eyeliner and some mascara, maybe even some falsies if you're in the mood and it's the easiest look for any special occasion.
This is a look that I've been dying to wear but I've just not had the occasion or the chance to but it's so so so pretty, look at that pink! The shades I used for this look were a mixture of 'Substitute for Love' and 'Freshly Toasted' in the crease and then I packed 'Warm Notes' all over lid. It looks really cute and fun and girly and the pigmentation is amazing.
Overall, I'm blown away my this palette and I can't wait to start trying out a lot more Zoeva prodcuts, I'm thoroughly impressed!

Collective Haul! | Zafira Ahmed
So I shop, more often that I should so I decided to make some use out of it. Hi, hey, hello 😃 This post is going to be haul of things I've bought quite recently. I'm quite a content shopper, I kind of need to chill for a bit and stop buying so much but I can't help myself at all. I think my personal style is developing quite rapidly at the moment and I just seem to be loving clothes a lot more than usual. It might be this whole 'new year, new me' feeling going on but I love styling and putting pieces together. It's always a joy. ALSO just wanted to let you know that I've got a second Instagram account now that's devoted to fashion, it's not going to be as structured as my original Instagram, it's going to be a lot more relaxed and if you like clothes and fashion you should definitely go and follow it! I'll leave a link at the end of this post. I hope you enjoy this haul 😊
This lovely dress is from Zara! All those frills and flowers make me feel ever so girly and it's just super lovely. It's fits me so well and it looks pretty cute with my new docs. This isn't available anymore sadly but there's so much more floral stuff available now since the Spring collection is out!
This is also from Zara, I practically live there now. The thing that really drew me in to buying this was the high neck, I love a good high neck. I think they look super flattering and it makes this t-shirt look a little more formal even though it's over-sized and baggy. I don't think this is available in Zara either unfortunately.
I've been very into dresses recently and I have no idea why. I think they look super flattering and they just look really nice with my new boots. This is one of the Cow re-work dresses that I always love. It looks very 60s and has shirt-like sleeves and is quite a nice length. They have so many pretty re-worked dresses, I have a Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren one and they just look so good. Have a browse urself:
This bby is from H&M where I don't really shop as often anymore. It makes me look like I'm dressed for a funeral and I haven't been brave enough to wear it yet but you might see it appear of my second IG acc in the next few days...
This was a total impulse buy from Cow. I literally have no idea how I'm going to style or wear this but it was so pretty I couldn't not buy it. It has the prettiest sleeves and it's this lovely creamy colour. I could totally dress this up somehow and it might good as a jacket-like thing. It's always fun to experiment with new pieces of clothes!
These lovely pair of pants which does not feel right to say at all anymore because basically, this week all I've been thinking about is why people say 'a pair of pants' when pants are a singular item. So, I finally googled it and the phrase is only used because in the 16th century, pants were two pieces not one but it's really going to bother me that we still say this even though it doesn't apply. Anyway 😂, these gorgeous pants are from Miss Selfridge! They're not like full length, they reach a few inches above the ankle so they make your legs look long-ish and look cute with boots. These aren't available anymore I don't think because I can't seem to find them online, but I've found a pair that are just as cute
These amazing pair of culottes are form Zara. I am in l o v e. I love these so much. On my second IG account, I posted an outift pic where I was wearing these, a black velvet crop top and my docs and it's now my fave outfit ever. The pants are pretty high waisted, on me anyway so you can't see your belly anymore. I think it's such a lovely switch up from your average, formal work pants. It says that they're cropped pants but they are pretty much culottes.

Lastly, my fave purchase ever, my Dr Marten Floraa boots. These are so lovely, unlike the other Dr Marten Chelsea type boots, these have more of pointed tip so I think they make my tiny feet a bit bigger and make my outfit look a bit more feminine and dressy in someways. They go with everything and anything, they're super comfortable and are so practical.
